Indiana’s state government understands the financial challenges facing today’s companies. In fact, you’d have a hard time finding a state government that takes a more businesslike approach. An example? The state legislature recently lowered taxes by a whopping 25 percent.
At a time when many other states are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, Indiana finished fiscal year 2011-12 with a healthy budget surplus, cementing a AAA bond rating and triggering automatic income tax refunds for taxpayers!
That spirit flows through the nine counties and many communities in Indiana’s Technology Corridor. Local government is dominated by fiscal conservatives who strive to use innovative ideas that deliver needed services at the lowest possible costs. That conservatism and a predictable tax system minimize the possibility of unexpected tax increases.
In addition to comparatively low income and property taxes, Indiana has earned a national reputation for having very low Workers Compensation costs and other business insurance premiums. That keeps personnel costs under control. Indiana is also a Right-to-Work state, giving employers more freedom and flexibility.
